The editor is where your audio becomes a video. You design on a live canvas ? everything you add can be previewed in real time with your audio playing ? then export the finished video.
Canvas sizes
You choose a size when creating a design:
- Story - 1080x1920, for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Portrait - 1080x1350
- Insta Portrait - 1080x1440
- Square - 1080x1080, ideal for Instagram feed posts
- Landscape - 1920x1080, for YouTube, Vimeo, and TV
You can change the size later from the Design panel - the editor will confirm first, since templates and saved designs are filtered by size.
The tool sidebar
Everything you can add or edit lives in the left sidebar:
- Design - pick a template or one of your saved designs, change the canvas size, and open Inspire Me (AI styles).
- Background - solid or gradient colours, ready-made background video loops, or your own.
- Image - upload images, generate them with AI, or search Pixabay and Giphy (including animated GIFs and stickers).
- Slideshow - a multi-image sequence with transitions (one per design).
- Text - headings, titles, and [timed text](/docs/text-and-timed-text).
- Shapes - lines, squares, circles, and triangles.
- Waveform and Progress - audio-reactive waveforms and progress bars.
- Subtitles and Transcript - karaoke-style captions driven by your transcription.
- Audio - audio settings for the clip.
The first time you open the editor, a short walkthrough points out each tool.
Working with elements
- Select and move anything by clicking and dragging it on the canvas. Drag handles resize; each tool panel has alignment buttons (left/centre/right, top/middle/bottom) and fit-to-width/height shortcuts.
- Layers - the layer panel lists every element. Drag to reorder, click the eye to hide, or the padlock to lock an element in place so you can't move it accidentally.
- Copy and delete from each element's panel, and undo/redo from the header.
- Zoom - from 10% to 200%, with presets and a zoom-to-fit button.
Inspire Me (AI styles)
Not sure where to start? Click Inspire Me. Pick one of twelve moods ? modern, bold, cinematic, warm, elegant, energetic, minimal, retro, nature, surreal, abstract, gothic ? and describe your video (if your audio is transcribed, we pre-fill the description from the transcript). The editor generates a matching background, colour palette, fonts, and subtitle effects in one go. You can optionally include an AI-generated background image, which uses image credits.
Saving and exporting
Saving is manual - use Save (or Save and exit) in the header. Export saves your design and starts the video render.
